2 nd practice

Loved by one, hated by others: Bullfights.

       I. Bullfighting has been one of the most controversial topics recently. However, it is also considered to be a very important and cultural tradition in some countries. Nevertheless, above all, we are going to focus on Spain and is should be highlighted that not all Spaniards agree with the last statement because this “sport” is abusive, dangerous and it is breaking animal’s rights.

       II.  Bullfights are extremely abusive.

      1. They are like a slaughter house for bulls.
        a. The endless suffering of these animals.
              2. Bulls and bullfighters are not on equal terms.
        a. Bulls’ point of view.
        b. Bullfighters’ point of view.

        III. Bullfights are dangerous.

       1. Many bullfighters have died because bulls attacks.
         a. Example 1: Granero Valls.
         b. Example 2: Francisco Rivera “Paquirri”.

               2. Some researches have established that in an early future, bulls could be facing extinction problems because they are being killed.
                      a. The effects of their extinction (what would happen with the cows and their calves?, what would happen with this popular tradition?)

IV. Bullfights are breaking animals’ rights.

        1. At first, bullfighters weaken these animals.
                 a. Instruments to make bulls weaker: “Banderillas”.

                2. the end, bulls are killed with no exception.
                         a. Instruments to kill bulls: Sword ("Estoque").

       V. Because these reasons and more, this kind of “sport” should be banned or, on the contrary, its rules should be changed into others ones softer, which respect animal life. As we behave sensibly, we may know that our behaviour is making them disappear. Bullfighting is not ethic at all.
